An upgrade is a major change in a product denoted by a new major version number or half increment (e.g. version 1.0 to 2.0). An update is a minor change in a product denoted by a tenth release made available within the same version (e.g. 3.0 to 3.1) or a hundredth release made available within the same version (e.g. 4.01 to 4.02). With each copy of Powerful Shopping Cart purchased:
- Any updates released for your initial purchased version are free, assuming you are within your maintenance period which was selected when you purchased.
- If you own an older release, you can buy the newest software release at a special upgrade price.
- When downloading the latest version from our web site, the software will check your software key to see if your version is eligible for the free update or special upgrade price.
- If you do not renew your maintenance period and it expires, you will need to purchase another product license at retail price to receive the latest version and renew your support contract.
Example: You buy Powerful Shopping Cart 3.0. Therefore, you are eligible to update to Powerful Shopping Cart 3.01 or Powerful Shopping Cart 3.1 (free update). You may not upgrade for free to a future release of Powerful Shopping Cart such as 3.5, 4.0 or higher. You can only upgrade or update to the newest release available on our Web site. How do I check what version I have and when my support period expires? Go to the pricing page and click the "Upgrade Pricing" tab. You will be asked to enter your existing license key, which you can retrieve from our client area. How much is it to upgrade between major versions? To upgrade from one major version to another (such as 4.0 to 5.0), you would pay 50% of the retail price for the edition you purchased. If you purchased within 60 days of an upgrade being released, you will receive the upgrade for free. How much is it to upgrade between editions? To upgrade between editions (such as starter to professional or professional to ultimate), the cost is the difference between the list price of the two editions, plus an additional 20%.
